![]() A steady stream of new customers has also kept the F-15 current with the latest technology when the Pentagon finally decided to buy new F-15s, much of the work of integrating new sensors, weapons, and other capabilities was already complete thanks to recent overseas purchases. Not only is the Air Force getting more modern aircraft, but the planes will also be able to tackle a whole new set of ground attack missions.Īlthough the Air Force hasn’t received a new F-15 in 17 years, orders from America’s allies, including Israel, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore, have kept the assembly line humming. The -C model is a dedicated air superiority version, while the -EX is a dual-mode air-to-air and air-to-ground aircraft. An order of 200 new jets will be nearly enough to replace the -C model on a one-to-one basis. The Air Force wants as many as 200 F-15EXs to replace the aging F-15Cs, which have an average age of 35.44 years. Īnyway, enough derailing, this old man will get off his soap box and let get back to modeling and hopefully soon other dedicated members like will bring dedicated Hornet avionics to his good looking WIP model.A F-15A Eagle on display at Andrews Air Force Base, 1985. I’m just remembering the “good old days.” For me though, there’s nothing wrong with that because there is so much more BMS can do with say 1980-2010 to keep them busy until the current stuff is available IMO. All cockpit objects have correct pivot points and could be animated. All cockpit elements, including small objects, handles, buttons, switches, bulbs, gauge needles, etc. The F/A-18 fleet is also used by Armstrong research pilots for the routine flight training. This feature greatly enhances flight safety. The aircraft is configured to transmit live video back to Armstrong so engineers can visually monitor the mission as it is flown. Put me in my rocking chair with prune juice, buddy. F/A-18E/F Super Hornet hi-detailed cockpit. The two-seat F/A-18 support aircraft is normally used for photo or video chase. The Advanced Cockpit System includes a new 10 x 19 inch touchscreen display. Even though we don’t always agree, I know you have an informed perspective.īut we’re getting old my friend As I am elluding to in my previous post, it’s part nostalgia, part practically when it comes to AESA, 5th Gen stuff, maybe Link16 even, I don’t want to put BMS at risk with the classified information issues like we’ve seen with the other sim and “sim”. Two versions of the Super Hornet the single-seat E model and the two-seat F. I remember your dedication to proper muscle memory, you’re obvious real world SME with pilot contacts etc. But, to be fair anytime you take out a non-Viper plane in BMS, you are already sacrificing that some (but at least you have realistic ATC and not completely useless AI wingmen I know buddy! I was thinking as I wrote that, in the at least 10 years I’ve known you here, maybe the older boards too, I appreciate your perspective on all those things. It was developed in the 1970s and since 1983 it is in use. It would be a shame for BMS mods to loss the level of fidelity that BMS brings in general. The F-18 by McDonnell Douglas is a twin-engine multi-role combat aircraft. ![]() We both know how the quality of DCS community mods can range very widely on focus to detail, etc. However, I would point out that in the news update on U3, the BMS team is discussing making the avionics mods more modular so that things like the Hornet avionics could be more addressed it seems by dedicated teams possibly outside BMS or maybe those specific people brought into BMS for just that portion. The ejection seats fixed, 20-degree recline angle is great for all phases of flight except air-combat maneuvering (ACM). So I’m quite intrigued by F-15C and will be giving it some time in the future as it gets more complete. It does seem most combat sim players shy away from Air Superiority fighter role and get enough of the role occasionally with the F-16 or F/A-18 to quench that thirst, but they are multi-role and they both have weaknesses in either BFM or BVR that truly the F-15C doesn’t have. ![]() Even then F-15C has better BFM performance than the F-14. DCS has the F-14 but without a human RIO, it’s a little crippled and we’re not going to talk about the simplified F-15/SU-27 LOMAC modules. The Growler's electronic warfare capability is primarily provided by Northrop. The EA-18G replaced the Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowlers in service with the United States Navy. ![]() True, but as an Air to Air fan, it’s fun to finally see a “module” embraces that. The Boeing EA-18G Growler is an American carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft, a specialized version of the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet.
